A Canadian swimming pool chemical manufacturing company has several plastic hoppers similar to the one above in their processing line. The material being handled does not flow freely through the hoppers.

Bridging and ratholes occur frequently and the production line often comes to a stop. Because the hoppers are made of plastic, normal means of applying vibration to assist flow by welding or bolting large piston vibrators to the sides of the hopper is not feasible. As a result, operators must resort to manually dislodge the sticking material by shaking the whole hopper frame which is quite heavy and cumbersome.

The NAVCO® Magnevibe was recommended to solve the flow problem. NAVCO® also supplied a ferrous mount pad that has an adhesive backing. The mount pad allows the magnetic vibrator to mount on plastic bins as easily as metal ones. This customer has now placed a Magnevibe on 3 of its plastic hoppers to solve their material flow problems and they are very happy with the results.
