Impact Vibrator Details

The characteristics of BH impact vibrators enable the vibrating energy to be transmitted in the capacity required to overcome the strength of the bulk material involved in a bridge (arch) or a rathole (pipe) inside of a bin or hopper containing bulk material. Other advantages of impacting vibrators include low utility consumption and minimum bin wall stress.

A UNIQUE SCIENTIFIC SOLUTION

The unique NAVCO® Bin Mapping methodology involves a detailed evaluation of the storage vessel and its intended bulk material. Recommendations are made by NAVCO Engineers based on a variety of factors including bulk density, particle size, moisture content, temperature, vessel size and shape as well as material of construction. NAVCO® pneumatic piston vibrators are sized for the application and their area of influence is determined. The vibrators are located on the hopper so that the areas of influence overlap; vibrations are controlled through a sequence that provides optimal flow pattern and minimal utility consumption.

Advantages of Impact Vibrators

MATERIAL STRENGTH AND SLIDING FRICTION:
These two factors are key to promoting
the flow of bulk solid materials.
The linear vibration of NAVCO® industrial bin vibrators
offers the following advantages:
  • The energy generated by the vibrator can be directed normal, or perpendicular to the flow of the bulk material to address a specific material flow problem. The vibrator energy is used very efficiently to reduce the sliding friction angle of the hopper and to overcome the the strength of the bulk material in the hopper.
  • Impact Vibrators that generate linear vibration do not develop high shearing forces at the bin wall. This allows a simple, more direct approach to mounting the vibrators and causes less stress to the bin wall.
  • Linear vibration is ideal for driving vibratory feeders and compaction tables too.

Impact Vibrator Construction

The BH model impact vibrator for bins and hoppers incorporates a nominal piston and bore. During operation, compresssed air is alternately directed from one end of the piston to the other through a series of internal ports. The piston is the only moving part, which makes a pneumatic piston vibrator a reliable, low maintenance device. The bin vibrator housing is a one-piece, ductile iron casting. This adds to the durability and reliability of NAVCO® Impact Vibrators. The action of the piston in our industrial impact vibrator generates high amplitude vibration with unidirectional, or linear, force vectors.
